2022 FIA Girls on Track – Rising stars winner Aurelia Nobels joins PREMA’s Formula 4 team

The young Brazilian driver, winner of the third edition of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission’s programme will join PREMA Racing Formula 4 team for a 2023 programme that will include the Italian Formula 4 Championship.

Aurelia Nobels, 16 years old, started her karting career in Brazil before competing internationally in 2020 and 2021.

In 2022, she made her single-seater debut, racing in the Formula 4 Brazilian Championship as well as gaining valuable experience in selected rounds of the Spanish and Danish Formula 4 Championship.

In parallel, she took part in the 2022 FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme, designed to detect and nurture young female racing talents of between 12 and 16 years old as they strive to forge a career in motor sport. From the first selection in May held by 146 FIA-affiliated national sporting authorities to the grand final at the Ferrari Driver Academy in Maranello in November, Aurelia was identified as the most talented driver among the senior competitors. She subsequently joined the Ferrari Driver Academy young driver programme.

She will be lining up for the first time in the opening round of the Italian F4 Championship in May at Imola with PREMA Racing as part of the Iron Dames project, partner of FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars.

Deborah Mayer, FIA Women in Motorsport Commission President Deborah Mayer said: “This is great news for Aurelia and for FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme, which has identified her talent and potential and has put her on the fast track to a professional career. Aurelia is going to take up a formidable challenge by competing the Italian Formula 4 Championship and continue her development as part of a high-profile team such as PREMA Racing.  I wish her all the best for this season and the future. For the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission and its partners, FDA and Iron Dames, the path that Aurelia is taking is very encouraging and proves once again that our commitment to bring ever more diversity in motor sport pays off.”

Aurelia Nobels said: “I am very happy to join PREMA in 2023 to compete in the Italian Formula 4 Championship, one of the most competitive single-seater series in the world. It will not be easy, but I am excited to take on this challenge, work hard and improve my skills. I know that working with such a professional team as PREMA, and being part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, is a big responsibility, and will be important for my growth as a driver. I cannot wait to meet everybody in the team and start working together and I want to thank the team and Iron Dames for having helped me to reach such a big step in my career. My thanks also go to the FIA and its Women in Motorsport commission, whose “Girls on Track – Rising Stars” programme made this dream possible!”
