Team Denmark has announced a delegation of five drivers to compete in the 2022 edition of the FIA Motorsport Games, being held 26-30 October in Marseille, France.

The Danish Automobile Sports Federation’s team will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals under the nation’s colours in the Karting Sprint Junior, Karting Sprint Senior, KCMG Formula 4, Drifting and Fanatec Esports Cup disciplines at Circuit Paul Ricard next month.

Danish Formula 4 series frontrunner, Julius Dinesen will lead Denmark’s efforts in the single-seater competition. The 15-year-old has been one of Danish karting’s brightest talents for several years and is part of DASU’s talent squad for the 2022 season.

He comments:  “I am proud to represent Denmark in the Formula 4. All my life I have seen different national teams in the red and white colours, so it feels great to have the opportunity to do it as a racing driver. I will do my best to bring the Danish flag to the top!”

In Karting Sprint Senior, 15-year-old Valdemar Aggerholm will be on the starting grid. Valdemar is a former Swedish champion in the OK Junior class and has taken a total of 75 podium positions in Danish and international karting over the years.

Mikkel Pedersen will be flying the red/white colours in Karting Spring Junior. Pedersen, who turns 14 this year, is a former Danish Rotax Micro champion and multiple race victor in the German Rotax Junior championship. “It’s totally cool that I’ve been chosen to represent Denmark, I’m proud of that, and I’m really looking forward to it and will do everything I can for a good result,” comments Pedersen.

Reigning Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Denmark champion Mikkel Gade will take on the Fanatec Esports Cup. The official Danish Esports champion, who also races in the Skip Barber Formula Series in the USA, says: ‘I never imagined that esports would give me a place on the national team, so I was very surprised when I got the message. I am proud that DASU sees me as their best card for the FIA Motorsport Games and I hope to reward them with a good result in the Fanatec Esports Cup.”

Mikkel Overgaard has been a familiar face in drifting for more than 10 years with several top results from international series such as Drift Masters, the Norwegian drifting championship and the Nürburgring Drift Cup.The 33 year-old will lead Denmark’s medal hunt in the Drifting discipline in France.

Supporting Overgaard as a mechanic in Drifting will be Boris Teodorescu Locatelli, who won the chance to work for the Danish contingent at the FIA Motorsport Games as part of his prize for winning the Mechanical Apprentice of the Year – an award presented by DASU and Dansk Metal, the Danish Metal Workers’ Union.
